Hi Abi! That's it - you've got me hooked! Since discovering the pattern via soulemama, I have knit seven drop stitch cowls in the past couple of weeks. The beautiful needles I ordered from you arrived today and I am off out to get some more wool to knit again! One question though: my drop stitches are much tighter/ smaller than the ones shown in your pictures, even after blocking. Any advice for a novice such as myself?

BTW, love your blog and your journey. As a mum of two girls going through a separation, it's lovely to see someone who is forging a new path with such grace. X

Hi Viv! So happy to connect with you and I'm even more delighted that you are enjoying your needles and my pattern :) Are you wrapping your needle twice when doing the yarn overs? Normally when you YO you only do it once but the Drop Stitch Cowl calls for YO twice so that you get a bigger drop when you release those stitches on the next round. Let me know if that solves it.

Sending you lots of warm wishes and strength. I know the journey isn't easy, I felt like I was in a rock tumbler for quite a while but feel all shiny and smooth now. xo

Hi Abi, yes, been wrapping the needle twice. Perhaps I'm just a tight knitter?! Anyway, the cowls look good regardless. Love your imagery of being shiny and new after the rock tumbler! I shall keep that in my mind. And a quote from Tennyson which is perfect for today: "Hope smiles at the threshold of the year to come, whispering, "It will be happier". All the best to you and your family in 2016. X
