Remember this mosaic I put together a while ago? Dahlia just reminded me about it (thanks Dahlia!). Well, I have a certain obsession with Airstreams. I happen to also have an 'Airstream Sensor'. If there is an old Airstream in a field somewhere and I am driving by it won't go unnoticed. I can feel them behind sheds, tucked away behind barns, or in the case above behind a pile of junk cars. This summer Greg and I decided to stop and inquire about this particular Airstream, we are in no position to buy one but it never hurts to ask because you just never know. It turns out the guy who runs the junk yard/repair shop was just storing it for someone. I asked him if we could take some pictures of it and he said, "Sure, I don't mind. But I don't know what all the fuss is about with those. 20 people must stop every week to ask me if that metal can is for sale. I wish I had one to sell them!" I do too, Mister. I do too.
"Don't know what all the fuss is about"? ... Seriously?? People are infatuated with their beautiful shape and sight cause nothing represents American's lust for travel and open space quite like an Airstream!

i agree wholeheartedly! we were going to try to explain to him but then we decided to just take our pictures and leave before the 'leaving' became too painful. this one was in *perfect* original condition.

It is so beautiful. I understand your love for them. I have been reading your blog for a few months now and I just enjoy it more and more with every post. I was keeping my eye out for you at Rhinebeck but I went on Sunday and not Saturday. I live about an hour South of there. I was totally overwhelmed by all the people so by 2pm all I wanted to do was hang out with the animals.

Oh how I love Airstreams....and VW Buses for that matter!! I've always wanted to do a photoshoot using one as a backdrop with vintage suitcases but I can never get one of my Senior Models to go along with it....they think I'm nuts!

I have a thing for Airstreams as well. It's a dream of mine to have one some day.

Glad to be of service Abi!
I do love Airstreams, and Westfalias... Not much of a camper myself, but I would LOVE to have one for a guesthouse in the yard, amongst the flowers... sigh!

This is ridiculously off topic but... I love your boots! The Airstream's cool, too. Good find. :)
