Remember the story of the breezeway basket? It looks like one of our Amberlinks was the first to rediscover it today! I am so, so happy to say that my hens are back in business and while we aren't getting as many eggs as we used to because of all the winter drama we are adding at least two dozen to our breezeway fridge each day and selling out once again. It feels really, really good.
This week sort of got away with me. That blasted time change really messed with Vaughn's sleep schedule and, as a result, our family rhythm. I feel like I am in the Red Queen's Race, "Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place..." but oh, what a wonderful race it is. That grass is getting greener, our raised beds are out from under their winter blanket, my boots are covered in mud and I am ready to start getting dirty again. Isn't it so exciting? I can hardly believe that spring is on it's way.
PS. In case you missed it, I added a link in my sidebar to my post all about starting your own backyard flock and brooding young chicks. Don't forget to check it out. It's getting to be that time!
PSS. Post updated to add a picture of the Amberlinks egg :)
