This is a picture that Karin took of Leah and me at Rhinebeck this year. Thanks you SO much Karin. Leah and I decided not to drag our cameras along. Sometimes it's just best to be in the moment. But look at that! There are at least 7 hand knits in action there! Leah's sweater, scarf and bag (Leah, link?). My Oatmeal Pullover, Autumn Hat and of course, my shawl. And then there's the mystery (invisible microphone holding) hand with what looks like some seriously awesome mitts. Truthfully, that is the best part about Rhinebeck for me. The Parade of Hand Knits. I always leave incredibly inspired.
Can I just say that I LIVE in that sweater. I love it so much. It is one of the quickest, cheapest (Lion Brand), and simplest knits that I have ever made but it has gotten more use than all of the other sweaters I have knit combined. The simplicity of the yarn helps. I wash and dry and wash and dry and wash and dry it and it holds up SO well. That is a huge factor for me because it does get quite dirty with the chickens chores, kids etc. But it's looks as good as the day it came off of the needles. NO pilling! I did modify the original pattern quite heavily and you can find all of my pattern notes on Ravelry.
In fact, I have to throw it on right now and check out why there is such a Rooster Ruckus occurring outside on the porch. We have a few immature roosters who are trying their darnedest to come up with a respectable cock-a-doodle-do and they may just be performing for me right now :)
